Cellar Past
Almost every area in the mansion has a past and present version. Here you see the mansion in the 1850's shortly after the previous owners abandoned it.
-
Cellar Present
The same scene in the present. The player travels between times by using the voodoo doll on one of several glowing sigils found around the mansion.
-
Kitchen Present
We used lesser sigils on the walls and floors of areas that loa inhabit. Players can use the voodoo dolls on these sigils to reveal puzzle hints.
-
Stove Puzzle
All the puzzles revolve around using the hammer, pry bar, and/or matches on the environment to force each loa out of hiding. In this instance, the player gathers kindling from the study fireplace, places it in the stove, and lights it to force the loa out.
-
Actions in the past...
Some puzzles revolve around doing something in the past to affect the present. For instance, if the player takes a broken key into the past, it de-ages and can be used on a door.
-
...affect the present
A door opened in the past opens up new areas in the present. Some puzzles involve leapfrogging through time to bypass obstacles.
-
Foreshadowing
One way we helped the player was to show them where they were going. This allowed us to foreshadow events and also made the mansion feel like a unified whole.
-
Study Past
We really wanted to emphasize the eeriness of the mansion. Did the previous owners really abandon it? And why did they leave all their possessions behind?
-
Study Present
In the present version, the loa have completely taken over. They seem to have a fondness for oddly colored candles.

The Final Loa
The player must remove the final loa from a stone alter by literally bringing the room down on it. And then setting it on fire. After defeating the loa, the player must escape the burning mansion.
